Diwali is just a week away. While you are still thinking of who's who to invite for the bash, there are certain things you need to keep in mind while planning a grand Diwali and see to it that you leave a lasting impression on the guests. It is the food, the outfit, the cracker, the home decor and the love with which you welcome your guests - leaves a lasting impression on them :) Let's start with what comes first; the Home Decor -
Once you are done with house cleaning, go and shop for some new bed sheets, curtains and cushion covers. Pick up some bright colors for Diwal. Bright colors and the Diwali lights will gel together like peanut and butter. Get candles, lit them minutes before the guests are supposed to come in. Let the ambiance set in and Change the Air this Diwali with Godrej Aer room freshner range. It is good to invest in vintage lamps or vase to give the whole traditional and soft touch to the house. Keep scented diyas or candles floating in water. Coming on to the delicious part; the Food.
Festivals and food, deadly combination. Food is the main ingredient of any festive bash. One that remains for long in the memory is often associated with what food you had there. Prepare different food items and keep the balance on the dining table. Make the table look colorful and tasty. Invest is some new cutlery. Buy a dinnerware if you want, which can be used in future festivities as well. Don't forget to put flower garland on the main door and decorate your balcony/terrace as the guest is sure to head there. You can even arrange for a baithak (sitting arrangement) out in the balcony among the Diwali lights. #ChangeTheAir and get outside home with all :) Coming on to the outfit, the dress you wear in front of the guests should not only be comfortable for you but also make your guests comfortable. Don't wear too jazzy or too heavy jewelry or clothing to attract. Be simple, wear cotton clothes in-case you are going to burst crackers and be safe this Diwali :) This post is for a blogging campaign, #ChangeTheAir with Aer.
Bring home freshness like that of flowers this Diwali with Godrej Aer
If house cleaning and revamp on a weekend takes away your sleep and requires energy, Diwali cleaning starts weeks before and can take away a lot more than just hours of sleep. Cleanliness is an important aspect of any Indian festival. Diwali is round the corner and this festival of lights is grand when people not just paint their walls but polish their furniture too. People decorate their house with lights and decor items like Lanterns to welcome Goddess Lakshmi. According to traditions and Mythology, Goddess Lakshmi enters only a clean and tidy house. So weeks before Diwali people start cleaning their house religiously and vigorously. I can vouch for this as the same happens at my house and I feel like a servant those days, moving around with a broomstick in hand and cloth on my shoulder.
The weapons of cleanliness
Let me give you some tips to #ChangeTheAir this Diwali and bring some freshness to your life. 1) Get rid of old clothes - This is the most tedious and time eating work, cleaning wardrobe. One should get rid of as many old and torn clothes as they can. Make space for new, let your wardrobe breath a fresh lease of life. One shouldn't get attached with old clothes and keep revamping. It not just gives you a new angle to life but also by cleaning your wardrobe, you get rid of old and welcome the newness. Once you clean your wardrobe, spray Godrej Aer room freshner - Petal Crush Pink, it will give a smooth and soft feel to you. 2) Kitchen cleaning - Agree that you clean your utensils daily, the slab and even the kitchen floor. Give cleaning some extra love before Diwali. Clean the gas stove, Slab, Windows, Exhaust fan, cupboards, divide the work in days or among the family members and let the kitchen shine like a diamond, after all the basic amenity of festivals live inside the kitchen - the festive food *slurp* 3) Windows and Grills - Cleaning glass windows is a pain, hands down! Always clean the window using little water and no cloth but use newspaper. The windows will be cleaned better and newspaper won't even leave any mark on the glass. If you want to enjoy the crackers up in the air sitting at home through your window, you got to clean them! 4) Reach heights and clean the fans and the lights - Always clean lights and fans with a dry cloth to avoid electric shock or short circuit. It is necessary to clean fans to keep their speed intact and the air clean inside the house. Cleaning tube lights and bulbs from time to time ensure that they remain bright. Don't forget, light is the most important factor during Diwali, after Sweets off course :D 5) Sofa and Curtains - When the guests come home they head to one place - Sofa. Get it cleaned and properly dusted. See to it that they are comfortable to sit on and not dust is visible. Get a new sheet to put on it & change cushion covers. When it comes to curtains, we all know that they attract the most amount of dust from the windows. To ensure that they remain clean, dust them regularly atleast till the Diwali day. Get them washed and pressed once so that they revive the old shine. 6) Balcony/Terrace - When you go out in your terrace or balcony to put Diyas or candles on Diwali night, don't feel bad if you can't step out because its too dirty to do so. Keep the floor of the balcony clean and tidy. These days due to a lot of construction and pollution in the city, Balconies and terrace occupy a lot of dust and dirt, hence they should be cleaned with water and soap atleast every weekend. Spray some "Godrej Fresh Lush Green", Godrej Aer Freshner , and get that feeling of garden in your balcony. If you think I have left a point which needs a lot of cleaning at home, do point out and leave in your comments :) Let's have a clean and safe Diwali this year, change the air and Happy Diwali!!! :D This post is for #ChangeTheAir with Godrej Aer.
Seems like forever when I
started praying. If I think of when and how I
started praying, it will take me back to early school days, when my mother
would let me bank to early school days, when she would let me leave home only
after offering a small prayer to God in our prayer room.
There are no particular
reasons to why I pray; I feel my heart calls for God when it’s sad, angry, and
anxious, wants something or simply want to thank for what he has given me –
amazing parents, siblings, love, friendship and great education.
Prayer not just brings me close
to God but to my inner self too. Prayers purify my thoughts and bring me to
peace from within.
Be it morning after getting up
or before sleeping at night, I reach out to God. I remember praying for good,
results of my exams, health and for wellbeing of my beloved.
I pray when I am down
I pray when things go wrong
I pray when life gives me a reason to smile
I pray when life brings in a new opportunity
I used to pray when I bunked classes to never get caught
I used to pray when mom would leave me home alone to fight against the ghosts
in my mind
I pray when my parents are away and all I can think of is their well-being
I pray when my brother or sister is away and I am longing to see them again
I pray when the sun sets down and I long for a beautiful tomorrow
I pray when the morning comes and I thank for beautiful yesterday
I pray when the star shines bright and reminds me of the love of my life.
I definitely have innumerable reasons to pray but often they are for the people whom I love more then myself...
Praying to Goddess Lakshmi is
a ritual during Diwali, a festival of lights, the day on which we worship the
Goddess of Wealth.
On the first day of Diwali, we
have Dhanteras, the most auspicious day for buying Gold or Silver. The day is
followed by Choti Diwali and then Badi Diwali where the goddess Lakshmi and
Ganesha is worshipped. Beautiful Rangoli is carved out, lots of Diyas and Mithais mark this festival.
Diwali asks for cleanliness, a
well-lit home which smells good and this year we would be bringing home
theSampoorna
Lakshmi Pooja Packfor the Lakshmi pooja.
It comes with an instructional booklet and an audio CD
to guide us to perform an authentic and traditional Lakshmi pooja at our home
or office. It’s a sight when we all are running and searching for Pooja books
every year, no more running. With the beautiful and melodious pooja playing in
the cd, it’s definitely a complete pooja pack.
Since the time I hosted the giveaway for Ahaishopping and joined their pinterest activity, I am in love with their collection. Amazing clothing and accessories to chose from. They are back with another exciting activity and this time for all the bloggers in the world!

Diyas, crackers, unlimited
Mithai, Homes bejeweled with numerous beautiful lights; this is
Diwali - my favourite festival of all :)
Diwali is
referred to as the festival of lights. During this festival, prayers are offered to the goddess of wealth and prosperity
- Lakshmi. As soon as the Dusshera
week is over, begins the saaf-safai of my house. I am the in charge of
my house cleaning, windows are cleaned, furniture each corner of the
walls; it’s said that Goddess Lakshmi comes only to those homes which are clean
and devoid of any evil or bad things.
Day – 1- Dhan Teras
Do you want that pocket money to never stop coming to you?
Worship your money then. Dhan Teras is celebrated to worship money and wealth.
This day holds special significance for the businessmen as they buy precious
metals like Gold and Silver as customary this day. People usually buy a
gold/silver coin and keep it in front of Lakshmi idol during Diwali.
Day – 2- Govardhan Pooja
I have seen celebrations for this day at my Nani’s place long
back. It is marked as the day when Krishna defeated Indra. The pooja is
celebrated with great zeal. Mountains are made using cow dung and worshipped as
a symbol of Govardhan Parvat which Lord Krishna lifted once. Back in my
hometown we worship cows on this day.
Day – 3- Choti Diwali
Crackers come home and big boxes of Mithai
have made entry at our home. Since a few years we are not bursting any rockets
or bombs, but we do have Fuljhadi (Sparklers) and Flower Pots to mark
traditions. 5 Diyas are lit and placed in Pooja room, one near a drainage pipe
to draw away the evil from home, 1 outside the main door, 1 near a Tulsi plant
and the 5th one under the Peepal Tree. Back in Lucknow, we have “Mitti
k Ganesha and Lakshmi” made, and placed in Pooja. Loads of flowers &
fragrances fill our home.
Day – 4- Badi Diwali
Burst loads of crackers, have a lavish
breakfast with family & a grand pooja in evening. Perfume is sprayed in all
the corners to #ChangeTheAir of celebrations. The house is cleaned, esp. the pooja room - Rangoli is made :)
After the Lakshmi Pooja, sweets are sent over to the
neighbours and elders give gifts/money to the kids at home. 16 diyas are lit up
and placed in every possible corner of the house. Not even a single corner is
left in darkness on this night :) after an amazing dinner, we are all out to burst crackers!
Day – 5- Bhai Dooj
Maa narates all of us a traditional old story about Bhai Dooj, followed by Brother ka tika and gift exchanging spree :D followed by an amazing breakfast *slurp*
It is said that on this day, a brother
should have food at his sister’s place on this day and both of them should go
for a dip in Ganga. It’s a festival of Brothers and sisters and the sisters ensure
that brothers are not left empty handed or empty stomachs from their homes.
The amazing 5 days of Diwali at my place is
a lot like what I wrote above, like it? :D what about yours? Do share!
The one thing I love most about India is the innumerable
festivals we celebrate here. The festive celebration is
woven with the threads of culture, heritage, traditions and rituals
storing the fragrance of different religions and region. Every year is like achange in the air of celebrations #ChangeTheAirwhen a multi-fragrant basket bursts out in
different times at different corners of the world. The fairs and festivals
are celebrated with equal enthusiasm around the nation.
I have often believed that fragrance takes you to memories.
Like, fragrance of wet soil reminds me of Monsoons,Godrej Aer Fresh Lush Greenreminds me of long walks in the grass garden I had in my school. The other day
my mother made some Gulab Jamun and how much my heart ached to go back to those festivals when I go slurp on them :D not to forget the meethi chashni ki mehak :) #Heaven
And it’s not just me who associates festival to
fragrances, but my colleagues too. Office being the best place to know about
different festivals; we all are in for a treat. From Kerala to Punjab, Goa,
Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat, there’s a mix of all.
If fragrance of Cinnamon during Christmas fills your home with deliciousness, the Flowers and Thaal full of Mithai during Diwali
& light fragrance of Diyas are enough to immerse myself in the festivals of
lights.
Jasmine takes you to the land of Kerala and the month of
Onam when the beautiful ladies adorn themselves with Jasmine Garlands, the
table is set with the yummy Sambhar & fragrance of
curry leaves reaching your hearts & that huge flower Rangoli. I remember one Onam, amazing memory. My new Godrej Aer Petal crush Pink takes me to it :)
Woody with an underlying fragrance of Caramel in Sesame
seeds must remind you of Revdi and Gajak during Lohri. The smell of Jaggery and
Neem Flower should take you to Andhra, the festival of Ugadi and Pachadi (chutney).
During Eid, the Mohammad Ali Road will make you stop with
the immense smell of Eid delicacies. Indian festivals are indeed associated to fragrances;
celebrate the change in air with every occasion. Do you know a fragrance which takes you back to a celebration? If not, its time to Change the Air of Celebrations :)

I was humming the song for hours and i noticed that it was 4 AM. I was n Tijara Ji (Rajasthan) A holy place where we came last night for darshan.
I am blessed with two good or bad habits ;) Humming the songs and Passion for photography so when i was not able to sleep the whole night (it happens to me often at a new place) i was busy reading and humming.
It was an early day start for me, i couldn't stop myself from going out and get some eye treat shots from the camera. I was able to hear the rings of the temple and it was already a day start for them, so i left my family asleep, took an outing to the rooftop and captured some Panchhi moments -
Slowly the time passed and i saw the rising sun ... the sky was changing colours and soon everyone
was awake which left my pigeon go..they took a flight to the sky while going high high and high..
and i was again humming the song while going back to my room - Koi sarhad na inhe roke...
Thank you Surbhi for this post :) You can contribute on my blog too! Be the Guest Blogger every alternate Sunday :) I will share your writing on my facebook page and twitter as well!
It is made to thoroughly cleanse and purify combination and oily
skin and after
applying, skin feels soft and purified with an incredible sensation of
freshness; says L’Oreal.
My Experience:
I have a combination to oily skin and prone to dust and breakouts. The face wash comes in a clear gel formula, a little greenish in
colour with no beads or particles.
I have been using it since a fortnight and
take a little amount for each wash. The face wash is a gel formula which
changes into foam when it comes in contact with water. It lathers softly on the
skin and a really pleasant fragrance which I am in love with. It’s kind of a
fruity smell and it lasts for a good time. Talking about the packaging, the
sleek tube is in a light green colour with a flip-flop cap.
What makes it a win-win?
The other day my mother asked me how’s the new face wash and
I said; it’s perfect! Yes it is, because it not just gives my skin a fresh feel
but leaves a smooth and supple feel to it. My skin doesn’t feel harsh after use
with no dirt.
I am not a makeup person but if you do apply
makeup regularly, this will be sufficient to remove it.
For a girl who lives in a humid climate like
that of Mumbai, the product is suitable. It is perfect for summers. I use it
twice a day, once after reaching work and second after reaching home at night.
The skin feels cool even in the humid summer.
Since this cleanser lathers well, even a dime
sized is more than enough to produce a good lather.
It prevents and soothes breakouts and removes
excess oil and sweat from the face.
Shortcomings-
This face wash is not at all travel
friendly. If you keep it upside down (cap down), the liquid oozes out
profusely, too stubborn to go back inside. The nozzle is actually too big for a
face wash. I keep it lying down instead of making it stand upside down.
A little over priced for a 100ml tube.
However, this product is the one to go for in the hot and
humid climate. If you are prone to pollution on a daily basis, go for it. After
a really long time I have got a face wash which actually feels good on me, so I
give it – 5/5!
Do tell me if you use it after reading this review or have
used it or are using it currently; would love to know your views :)
