Can Love Happen Twice [Book Review]

In my earlier post, I asked you all about the things you love or hate to do in Summer. Well, there is this thing I love doing every season, Reading! :)

Continuing my habit of picking up random books and reading them, last week I read "Can Love Happen Twice?" by Ravinder Singh. Not that you have to fall in love the second time and explore the question; one Love is enough to understand the pangs of Love.

Can Love Happen Twice?

Said that, I completed the book in one sitting and found it - Lovely! A one time is a must for all those who love to read Love Stories (Though, I read it thrice for some awesome one-liners it inherits). The book is a sequel to "I too had a love story" by the same author (I haven't read the first one yet). I grabbed this book around 6pm and after all the distractions finished it by 3am, sobbing!

The story is an emotional roller coaster ride. Love holds different meaning for everyone who has lived this heavenly experience. Ravin (Ravinder, a character himself) says, "You don't always need a wild truck raging madly on the road to kill your love, the way it happened in my story. Most of the time, I have found that people themselves have killed their stories and call it break-up.

A perfect mix of emotions, blended with perfectly chosen words.

The Book, starting from a few excerpts of the last book. The story is about Ravin falling in love the second time and loosing it, too. Its about, how true love never knocks the door, the second time... Its about how in the end when it eventually does, it gives you a reason to smile with a tear in your eyes.
"Can Love Happen Twice?" tells about Ravin's life after his success as a novelist and a 'Valentines Day special'Radio show in Chandigarh, he and his friends are invited to. As listeners tune into the radio show, to their surprise Ravin doesn't turn up. The show apparently becomes the longest running Radio show when Amardeep, Happy and Manpreet (Ravin's Friends) read through Ravin's unfinished book. Listeners are left shocked, wanting to know more; what happened to Ravin later, where is he now, trying to find the answer whether Love knocked his door, the second time?

Some of my favourite lines from the story;
- I was wide awake in the real world while she was in her dream world of sleep, and that there was a gap between these two world (talk about the pangs of Long Distance Love)
- Wealth, Women and Wine can make anything happen in this world.

- ...as if life had suddenly been fueled back into me, as if it had rained again after a decade of drought.

- Alcohol makes people speak from their hearts.
- its good to see beauty in its purity, untouched.
- Where women are concerned, the unexpected is always expected.
- True Love is unconditional. And if it is a 'Conditions Apply' scenario, then it isn't True Love... :)

The story is definitely a page-turner. I feel, Love can/cannot happen twice. But, as they say... never stop looking for one. Stop looking at the door which is closed, because True Love sneaks in through the door you left open. It slips in quietly, if your hear bells get your ears checked :D

Summer-Summer Everywhere :D

Summer Funn :)

For me today, It was an early morning indeed! (Okay, 8am is Early!!!). I woke up with a cool breeze on my face. My mother had opened my favourite window (favourite because of the ‘sunset’ view). And, so the morning breeze was unlike the Afternoons’. Mumbai is really-really hot these days…Every second person in local trains looks like a dacoit ready to attack, Dacoit look because of the scarf they hide their face into; ready to attack because well… they are always ready to fight errr…against each other (No prize for guessing! I am talking about the ladies compartment).

In one of my earlier posts "Funky Jewelry' I mentioned how fashion trend changes with seasons. This season its time to take out all your shorts, pastel colored clothes and lots of bead-ed Jewelry :D

The Sun, is playing games with every one of us… Scorching heat, burning skin, ‘chaandi’ of Juice wallas and afternoon crowd in malls. Some are waiting for their vacations, while others for their exams to get over (like, me), few others are ready to splash themselves in swimming pools (the name itself gives a sense of relief, isn’t it?) and many others are all set to indulge and attack on mangoes and ice-creams! *slurp*
So what is that one thing you Love about Summer? and Hate about Summer?

Hate- sticky sweaty summer, cant go out for comfy shoppin or trekin etc :-( Love- pastel shades outfits i.e. agn chang in wardrobe, can wear fav shorts too :-) Can enjoy water park :P :D

Summer Camps have always been the best part of summers. Adventure, Jungle safari, Tribal life and tent camps constitute some of the best summer moments of my life. Mangoes, Jack fruits and day out at beaches while gorging on coconut milk are something I Love about Summer! Heaven-ish!

Book by Sneha Gupta; For what you are

Read this book and you will not sigh on reading another love story. You will have a few laughts, a few tears and will love to read through. This book is a debut by Sneha Gupta. Sneha, who fantasised writing since childhood has written this romantic comedy.

This book has friends, peer pressure, love, fights, the typical Indian mom finding a rich guy and what not. It is like a typical Bollywood saga with all the twists and turns. Every second minutes something happens which keeps you hooked to reading it. There is nothing that you will hate about the book. It’s a simple story that you are bound to like.

The story is for you to read but I will say what is identical in the story with real life and the reel life. This story has a mom who has a daughter and like every Indian middleclass mother, the only tension of her life is her wedding. She is running after her to get married to a super rich guy she finds.

The mother is doing everything possible to hook up her daughter Snigdha, with the rich guy, Atul. Funny and intense read waiting to be read in the book. There is a lot more apart from this angle but this is how I relate the book to a traditional Indian woman. Read the book and find out what you like about it.

Paulo Coelho aptly said, “Ever since groups of men and women first started living together in caves, fashion has been the only language everyone can understand, even complete strangers.” It is a way of saying: I belong to your world.

So, Who inspires them? Let us take an example of a college going teenager Deepshikha. She loves it when she receives compliments for her fashion sense from her peers. Praises, second glances, admiring comments and flattering remarks take her on cloud nine. This results in making her to follow current fashion trends and hence update her wardrobe to fit in with the running fashion, and the trend passes on. Yah and off course, other reasons behind picking up such jewellery is the popularity created for them by TV Actors and film stars and even the models walking the ramp.

College students keep a regular check on what is ‘in’ and upgrade their wardrobes regularly. Every generation, every decade and every college-batch have set their own fashion statement with different styles and trends.

The trend is all about Comfort, so far so good, more about what catches the eyes!

Daughter… A dad’s sweetheart, a mother’s all time support; daughter is the Lifeline of her Parents. A symbol of sacrifice, right from her childhood she sacrifices her happiness, first for her younger siblings and then when she grows up and gets married for her family as a wife, daughter-in-law and then as a mother.

Love this famous Irish saying, ‘A son is a son till he has a wife, a daughter is a daughter all her life!

Girl-Friend… is like a ray of light at the end of the tunnel, always soothing and never loosing hope. The one who knows all about you and still likes you.
