The Ultimate Cricketing Holiday!

Things we do for the love of Cricket! From waking up at ungodly hours to distributing sweets when our country wins the cup, we have done it all.

Cricket is one sport we Indians are truly passionate about. Over the years, my love for this sport has grown and the passion lives on. And it’s not just Cricket which makes my heart beat but the love to explore places Cricket is associated with. What do you think of this combination? Unbeatable right?

Why not talk about some of the best cricket travel destinations around you? And since, the world cup battle is happening in Australia, why not start from that?

One cannot talk about Cricket without Melbourne. One of the most important tourist attraction in Australia, MCG is one of the greatest cricketing grounds in the world. Built in 1853, it is home to the first test match ever played in the cricket world in the year 1877 between Australia and England.

Melbourne Cricket Ground
Known to be the most populous city in Australia, Melbourne is referred to as the cultural capital of Australia. Frequent contender of the most liveable city in the world, Melbourne is known for its culture, coffee, colours and contrast.

Another attraction in Australia is Sydney. And with Sydney comes the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground. The city of the Opera House and Harbour, where one cannot miss to watch sunset aboard a luxury yacht sipping champagne and enjoying a delightful meal.

Sydney Cricket Ground

90 minutes away from Sydney is the Blue Mountains, known for a beautiful overnight stay midst the Three Sisters, Wentworth Falls and the Scenic Skywalk. SCG’s vision is, “To celebrate sport, create history, enhance entertainment and share the experience”, and trust me, an experience which one cannot resist sharing.

I won’t do justice to this article if Lord’s is not talked about. Call it a pilgrimage for us cricket lovers, in London, touted to be the home of cricket, Lord’s was established in 1814. It is not Rocket science to tell you all that London is one of the most famous tourist attraction across the globe, and cricket is a part of the city since ages.

Lord's, London

Tell me one cricket lover who wouldn’t remember watching Saurav Ganguly twirling his jersey at Lord’s. If you visit London, do not miss out on Lord’s at any cost!

Coming onto India, you haven’t really watched a cricket match if you haven’t watched it in an Indian stadium. The cheer, the passion, the atmosphere, the claps, enthral, is to die for! Something which no other stadium in the world can match upto. There’s Eden Gardens (Kolkata) & Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai) in India worth visiting and watching a match in.

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Eden Gardens, Kolkata

A treasure of cricket history, if one is all about Dada, Saurav Ganguly, the other is about little Master, Sachin Tendulkar. And who would debate if I say, “India is the place to visit, no matter what time of the year, for its diverse culture, tradition and breathtaking destinations.”

Few days back we saw a match, neck-to-neck performances between two top teams in this World Cup. I am talking about the match between Australia and New Zealand where the latter won by 1 wicket! Quite an interesting face-off I would say. The match took place in an equally interesting destination called Auckland. Venue – Eden Park, Auckland is known for the Sky tower, which offers an unbelievable 360-degree view of the whole city.

Eden Park, Auckland
Auckland is the most populous area in New Zealand, another destination this World Cup. Another must-visit, is the Auckland Bridge Climb, over the Auckland Harbour Bridge on custom-engineered walkways that provide a safe but exhilarating experience. What’s more? If you are interested in Volcanoes, visit the One Tree Hill. Set amongst the green slopes of Cornwall Park, it is one of Auckland’s largest and most culturally significant volcanoes in Auckland.

I simply cannot finish this article without mentioning the cricket destination which is as beautiful as the sport itself. Watching cricket in legendary stadiums like Newlands and the Wanderers (there’s wanderlust in the name itself!), sight-seeing awaits you with Cape Peninsula and Table Mountain, Wonderful Safaris and beautiful gardens.  South Africa is a definite in my ‘bucket list’ destination! One cannot simply forget the 2003 finals, am I right or am I right?

Before I see off you all, why don't you tell me your favorite cricket holiday destinations across the globe?

Till then,
Have a superb WC15 time,
Wanderlust Girl

Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition #HappyHairChallenge

Hello everyone!

How many of you love challenges? I do! Not that I take them often, but if interesting enough, don’t let go too. Garnier emailed me a few days back about the 30 Days Happy Hair Challenge and I have taken the same happily!

Been a few months that I have been trying hair products to get the one which suits my hair type perfectly. May be I end up getting accustomed to this, may be not? Let’s do this!

So here I am accepting the challenge, writing about my current hair condition & sharing with you. Hair is something that I often tend to neglect. Haircut, once in 6 months, that’s all I have ever done to my hair apart from experimenting with different hair products. Plus there are so many products in the market which are not meant for you hair type and end up doing damage. Hence, all the more necessary to find that perfect partner to your tresses, after all they need utmost attention and care too.
  • My hair is moody, dry and frizzy.
  • I wash my hair twice a week and oil once a fortnight. Oiling is 3-4 hours before I wash my hair or sometimes overnight.
I have been fighting dandruff since almost half a year now, which just doesn’t go. Not at all. Tried so many products. If one product helps me fight frizziness, the other makes it a little manageable or just glows up my waves but not even gives everything together. Sigh.

My current hair texture is Light Brown. I have never coloured my hair.

Evaluation of current hair:
  • Flakes and Dandruff from the scalp
  • Soft inside, dry outside/ends
  • Unmanageable after a day of shampooing
  • Moderate Hair Fall every time I comb
  • No split ends
*Drum rolls*

Enters: Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition

  • It smells amazing. Sweet lemon smell, can’t wait to furnish my review!
  • Available in all the stores near you. [Go buy, wait for my review! ;)]
  • Good packaging
I am really looking forward to tell you all about it! Evaluating my tresses since 2 days. Will go on for another 10 days, so wait for the next Sunday!

Until then, don’t forget to make love to your hair!

Love,

The Wonder Book: The Limca Book of Records

Do you have what it takes to be synonymous with the Spirit of Excellence? I am talking about the Limca Book of Records here. Showcasing the incredible feats achieved by Indians, the book is hailed as a testimony to the country’s record-breaking individuals. Be it of the shortest woman in the country or the youngest mathematics wizard, records are waiting to be broken, with new additions every single day.

Then there are records which will leave you surprised and how – these are feats that are both extraordinary and strange. A resident of Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra can do push ups on a single thumb, and this amazing talent has helped him gain entry into the Limca Records. I can’t even do push ups on both the hands, let alone a single thumb!

Another record I came across is extremely quirky to say the least. While you read, glance at your palm; how many finger sections do you see? Three, if I am not wrong? If more than that, you can challenge Suhaani Tomar and Krishan Kant as they have four, and are a part of the Limca Book of Records.

Leena Pawar from Jalgaon, Maharashtra has the longest hair record to her name! How long? 2.21 m! Her height? 5 ft 3 inch! And look at me, my hair doesn’t grow beyond waist length, ever. Kudos to the lady who could maintain her hair that long and keep it healthy!

These stories from the Limca Book of Records definitely intrigued me. So much so, that I spent an hour just reading through the records and landing up on the news of 2015’s Limca Book’s launch! (Time to read more)

The Jaipur Literature Fest 2015 saw the launch of the latest edition of the Limca Book of Records, a special on literature. The 26th edition recognises the contribution of Indian literature to society, in shaping the culture and helping it stand strong through the ages.

The launch was preceded by a key note on “The Reading Habit” by Padma Bhushan Girish Karnad and was followed by a panel discussion on the theme, “Is the commerce of Literature today killing ‘good’ writing?”

The Limca Book of Records has done a fabulous job in pushing forth on the global stage the names of select gifted individuals.

Do you have what it takes to go beyond the ordinary? Go for it!
To read & seek your scope, don’t forget to get amazed by the amazing records here: Limca Records Gallery

Something for everyone! #ebayRepublicDaySale

Holidays come now and then, and so does deals across e-commerce sites. With so many options to choose from, it is often difficult to shop online. I have had a wish list since a long time and was hoping for brands to come up with sale. While I was searching for Republic Day deals yesterday, I stumbled on the eBay deal parade. The name itself was intriguing enough and hence I went ahead to pick my favorites!

The first in my wish list is Micromax Canvas Tablet. This one would go to my mother!

Why this:

  • Beautiful and extremely lightweight. Easy for her to move around with and use even when in the kitchen (for googling all those yummy recipes!)
  • large 7.85 inch IPS display screen, for that amazing gaming experience. She loves that, even if it just Solitare or Sudoku
  • enjoy voice calling on this device as it supports dual sim connectivity. What else do you want?
  • and, and... 5 MP Camera! Available for? Rs 6172 ONLY!

Next up on my mind since almost a year now, is a good hard disk. I have projects, assignments from college time, movie & music collection to store (forever!). And with my laptop giving up on me every now and then, it is safe to say that I invest some money in a hard disk, hence Sony’s 2 TB drive is my pick! Sony has always been my first choice when it comes to gadgets, plus eBay is giving this to me on a slash half price with free shipping! Win-win? ;)

A few weeks back I tweeted about my old black boots giving up on me. I have a valid reason to add these to my wishlist. Moreover, I couldn't buy one on my last visit to Delhi. So... eBay!

Made of genuine leather, these long boots can be paired with midi skirt or denims. As long as the winter stays, make use of these boots!

Now that I have talked about winters, it is incomplete without travel plans, and what do you get back from all those trips? Souvenirs! I love them. Be it postcards or little keepsakes, they need a place to be put on display, so that every day reminds me of those wanderlust memories. What do you think of this Wall Shelf? It is compact and at a reasonable price on eBay.

Last but not the least; shopping can’t finish without picking up something for my little brother. This Fastrack watch with blue strap is a perfect choice. He being a watch lover and a sports person, this product definitely shall be loved. What do you think of it?

My wishlist is ready! Now you go on to eBay India and make your own wishlist from the grand eBay Republic Day Sale. Now now now.

Happy shopping.

Khud ko kar Buland

"One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure it's worth watching." – Anonymous

This quote has given more meaning to my life than any other. After all, it's your life, you live it & you alone reap the benefits.
Do you have a dream? A wish? Do you ever wake up and wonder: What would it be if I did that? What would it be if I was somewhere else?

How do you think one should go forward chasing their dreams? Security gives you that opportunity to follow your passion. Just like the father in this video. A single parent who receives some unexpected news but instead of being discouraged he begins planning how he can give his child that security to live his life in happiness.

5 reasons to why one should follow their dreams & let go off the unwanted surprises life throws:

1. You have always wanted to do this
Be it learning a new language, pursuing a new career, Explore places that you didn't know existed in the first place. Just go for it!

2. You will become an inspiration to those around you
Doing what you want to do, instead of what others want from you. Makes sense? Focus on your dreams, be courageous enough to follow them and the rest shall follow.

3. Joy and Happiness will become contagious
You realize your potential, feel energized to put more, feel better about yourself and become a living proof that yes, one can follow his/her dream at any given point of time.

4. Every day will be a new learning
And it's not just about the work but about yourself. The more you learn, the more you dream, and the more focused you are.

5. Realize capabilities
You will face challenges. Do things you never thought of doing before.

All you need is the right planning. You might end up running up and down but when the dreams are secured, all you need is that one step ahead towards it and then, there's no coming back.

Allama Iqbal has said it right, "Khudi ko kar buland itna ke har taqder se pehleKhuda bande se khud pooche bata teri raza kya hai."

Because, it's all about going forth fearlessly.
